Earl Weener, a former Boeing engineer and a fellow at the Flight Safety Foundation, was nominated by President Obama to fill the last vacancy on the NTSB.

Earl Weener, a former Boeing engineer and a fellow at the Flight Safety Foundation, was nominated by President Obama to fill the last vacancy on the NTSB. If he is confirmed by the Senate, he will be the third pilot on the five-member Board. Before he retired from Boeing in 1999, Weener served as chief engineer for airworthiness, reliability, maintainability and safety; chief engineer of systems engineering; and chief engineer for safety technology development. His experience includes working on runway safety and ground accident prevention, as well as on approach and landing accident reduction.
