Savannah Air Center will change its name to Midcoast Aviation effective January 1. The Savannah, Ga.-based company was acquired by Jet Aviation in 2008, two years after Jet Aviation acquired Midcoast Aviation in St. Louis, as part of the company’s effort to strengthen its completions, modification and maintenance services in North America. The Savannah operation was integrated into Jet Aviation’s maintenance and completions organization in the U.S. and operated by Midcoast Aviation. Savannah Air Center is located at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. The aviation center offers interior completions, refurbishment and exterior painting, aircraft maintenance, and avionics installation and repair. The company is an authorized completions center for the Bombardier Global 5000 and Global Express.
“This change furthers our ability to support our maintenance and completions businesses while broadening our geographic reach,” said Peter Edwards, president of Jet Aviation. “The name change is intended to unify the brands into one.”
In the U.S., Midcoast Aviation will now operate the St. Louis and Savannah completions and maintenance centers under the leadership of Don Petersen, president of Midcoast Aviation. “As sister organizations, united under the same management, it makes sense that both operate under the Midcoast Aviation brand,” Edwards said.
The new Midcoast Aviation facility in Savannah will be managed by Frank DeFelice, vice president and general manager, who replaces Jeff Zacharius. DeFelice has 23 years of aviation industry experience, beginning his career as an A&P technician, and culminating in his participation as a member of the G650 maintainability program team for Gulfstream Aerospace. He was also general manager of Gulfstream’s London Luton Service Center for four years.
