Eclipse Aerospace has grown to more than 60 employees since purchasing the assets of bankrupt Eclipse Aviation on September 4, and the new company is meeting its plan to supply parts and provide upgrades to Eclipse 500 VLJ owners. More than 70 suppliers attended Eclipse Aerospace’s supplier conference on October 27, “and most former suppliers are interested in supporting the new Eclipse Aerospace,” according to a customer communiqué released on December 21. Although Eclipse Aerospace has contracted with a new supplier to provide redesigned PhostrEx fire bottles, “it will likely be several more months before we can offer PhostrEx bottles for sale,” the communiqué noted, “and the retail price is yet to be determined.” Other developments include availability of new bias-ply tires that provide twice the number of landings; the opening of an Albuquerque service center with 13 mechanics; FAA approval for Eclipse Aerospace to provide recurrent and known-ice/Avio NG 1.5 differences training; selection of Global Jet Services for maintenance training; and delivery of the first group of Eclipse 500s upgraded to known-ice/Avio NG 1.5 configuration.
