The Clearwater (Florida) Police Department Economic Crimes Unit has charged Todd Christopher Naylor, 32, of Clearwater with four counts of grand theft relating to an aircraft parts business he purported to own. According to the Clearwater Police Department, from August 2008 to February 2009 Naylor represented himself as an aircraft supply business and advertised parts for sale online and in trade-related publications. Naylor conducted his business on the Internet citing a business address of an unrelated automotive repair shop. He listed helicopter and airplane parts for sale, taking deposits and payments for the parts from prospective customers. Allegedly, Naylor neither supplied the parts nor refunded the customers’ money, which ranged from $6,000 to $40,000 per victim. A spokesperson for the Clearwater P.D. told AIN the investigation is ongoing and that both national and international victims are involved in the scam. “The four counts pertain to victims in Florida, Texas, the UK and South Africa. He conducted business on the Internet, which gave him a very long reach. We believe there may be more victims, and additional charges are pending,” she said.
