Jet Aviation, which purchased Midcoast Aviation in 2006 and then was bought by General Dynamics last year, announced that Don Petersen is taking over as president of Midcoast Aviation and Jet Aviation’s North America maintenance and completions businesses. Current president Kurt Sutterer is retiring next month after 29 years with Midcoast. He became president of Midcoast in 2004, then took over Jet Aviation’s U.S. maintenance and completions operations in January after Jet Aviation COO for U.S. operations Jim Ziegler left the company. Sutterer has worked at Midcoast since 1981, starting as an inspector and then rising to manager of technical services, vice president and eventually president. The company grew from 800 to more than 2,000 employees during his tenure. New president Petersen has worked for sister company Gulfstream Aerospace since 1996, most recently as vice president and general manager for product support at Gulfstream’s Appleton, Wis.; Westfield, Mass.; and Minneapolis facilities. Jet Aviation also appointed Charles Celli head of completions for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia and general manager of Jet Aviation Basel. Celli was vice president and general manager of Gulfstream’s Dallas service center.
