Hangar 10 building new MKC FBO

A new FBO under construction at Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport in Kansas City will compete with the sole FBO at the airport, an Executive Beechcraft facility owned by Signature Flight Support parent company BBA Aviation. The owners of the new Hangar 10 FBO plan to break from FBO tradition by building a facility with overnight pilots’ quarters and a fitness center with separate locker rooms for men and women customers, tenants and employees. The pilots’ quarters will also be usable as day rooms with desk, entertainment center, private bath/shower and a fold-down bed. The FBO, designed by Dye Aviation Facilities, will include a 28,000-sq-ft terminal building and three hangar bays totaling 56,000 sq ft. “Although the focus right now is on building a high-quality facility,” said Hangar 10 general manager Brad Chandler, “we are also excited about creating a new customer-centric culture. If we make a mistake, we will own it and every employee will be empowered to make it right for the customer. It is important to us that our based customers are never treated better on the road than they are at home.”
