Sikorsky yesterday announced the formation of Sikorsky Global Helicopters, a new umbrella business unit for the manufacturer’s commercial helicopters, including the S-76, S-92, H-92 and the Schweizer helicopter line. As part of the rebranding, the S-300c, S-300CBi, S-333 and S-434 will be marketed as Sikorsky helicopters. “The Schweizer name will disappear,” said Marc Poland, executive vice president of the new business unit. Schweizer will still exist as a subsidiary, and all non-rotary-wing products will retain the Schweizer name, including the test center in Elmira, N.Y., Poland added. Keystone’s engine and helicopter services and Sikorsky’s Associated Aircraft Group charter and fractional services are also being folded into Sikorsky Global Helicopters. Sikorsky parent United Technologies acquired Schweizer in 2004. In addition to helicopters, the unit builds UAVs, gliders and airplanes. Sikorsky added Keystone, based in Coatesville, Pa., to its business in late 2005. The firm provides completions and maintenance services for the S-76 and S-92.
