With multiple signings announced at Heli-Expo, Pratt & Whitney Canada is ensuring a stronger aftermarket share in the engine maintenance and service segment.

The United Technologies division, based in Longueuil, Quebec, has concluded a fleet management program (FMP) agreement with Air Methods to provide engine support for the emergency medical transport specialist’s helicopter fleet.

The Turboshaft Flex FMP program agreement covers approximately 125 PW200-series engines, plus spares, installed on Air Methods’ fleet of Eurocopter EC 135, AgustaWestland A109 Power and Bell 429 helicopters for a period covering approximately two full overhaul events. The tailored FMP programs guarantee a customer’s operating costs over the long-term life of an aircraft, with maintenance performed at P&WC-owned or -designated maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities.

In Europe, Pratt & Whitney Canada Customer Service Service Centre Europe, a joint venture of Pratt & Whitney Canada and MTU Aero Engines, signed a 16-year fleet FMP agreement with Germany’s Automobile Club ADAC. It will provide for comprehensive maintenance support for PW206B2 engines installed in the club’s fleet of 19 Eurocopter EC 135P2 helicopters.

P&WC also signed a five-year contract with Canadian heli-skiing company Alpine Helicopters of Kelowna, B.C., for the repair and overhaul of 20 PT6T Twin-Pac engines, plus spares, installed on Alpine’s fleet of Bell 212s.

Alpine Helicopters operates rotorcraft for heli-skiing and heli-hiking adventures, as well as for firefighting services in the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
