Boeing has revealed just how dominant the Middle East is in its executive aircraft order book. If the fact that 33 percent of Boeing’s total orders is emanating from the region is not impressive enough, how about the U.S. airframer’s statement that “all of the current orders for 747-8 VIPs and 70 percent of orders for the larger, longer range BBJ2s and BBJ3s are for Middle Eastern customers?” This trend continues with nearly half of orders for 787 VIPs placed in the region. The all-time total of Boeing Business Jets sales (i.e., since 1996) stands at 197, of which 122 are in service and 17 more have been delivered to completion centers. The backlog stands at 58 aircraft with a total book value of $8.2 billion.
