Sandel Avionics is adding new WAAS approach annunciations to its 4-ATI electronic primary navigation display, the SN4500, with a software update available next month. The Vista, Calif. manufacturer of plug-and-play EFIS replacements for legacy electromechanical attitude-director and horizontal situation indicators said the SN4500 will then annunciate the type of WAAS approach that is armed.
Annunciations include LPV (lateral precision, vertical guidance), LP (lateral precision), LVnav (lateral navigation with vertical guidance) and Lnav (lateral navigation ) in addition to the display of GPS/WAAS lateral and vertical deviation with GPS integrity monitoring annunciation already on the SN4500.
Jerry Henry, Sandel director of sales, said, “More and more business jet owners are inquiring about updating their FMS for WAAS approaches, and many installations will require additional equipment to show GPS integrity and WAAS approach type annunciations. With the SN4500 they can upgrade a legacy electromechanical HSI and save hundreds or even thousands of dollars by not having to install a remote annunciator panel.”
