Embraer held a grand opening ceremony for its first dedicated U.S. factory-owned business jet service center at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Arizona on Monday. The $10 million facility, with a 47,700-sq-ft hangar, will provide maintenance services for the Phenom 100 and 300 and Legacy 450, 500 and 600 jets. The Phenom 100 is next to enter service, anticipated by year-end. Embraer expects to create 60 jobs during the next five years at the Mesa facility and is hiring and training technicians on the Phenom 100. In addition to full maintenance services, the center offers routine inspection, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, airframe, engine, avionics and systems repairs, 24/7 support, AOG mobile response teams and expendable and repairable parts inventory. The Brazilian manufacturer is considering adding paint and interior capability at its service centers. By the end of this year, Embraer plans to have 38 authorized and seven factory-owned facilities worldwide. Later this year, Embraer will open two more factory-owned business jet service centers, at its Fort Lauderdale, Fla. U.S. headquarters and in Windsor Locks, Conn.
