The underutilized Livermore Airport near California’s San Francisco Bay Area might yet see development of a new FBO. In mid-July, the Livermore city council passed a resolution allowing transfer of the FBO lease from flight training school Sierra Academy to Seaward Holdings, which plans to base two charter Citations at the airport. Sierra Academy signed a 25-year lease at Livermore in 2000, and the city is allowing transfer of the remaining term to Seaward. A local group, Livermore Airport Citizens Group, is protesting the plans to allow Seaward to move into the airport, fearing that “modern jets” will create more noise than Sierra Academy’s 26 piston-powered airplanes and lead to development of “Jet Fueling Stations” that will attract hordes of “Corporate and Commuter” jets to the bucolic airport. Seaward has agreed to comply with a voluntary nighttime curfew from 10 p.m to 6 a.m.
