Preliminary Report: Cessna Twin goes down on approach

CESSNA 414, FORT MYERS, FLA., JUNE 26, 2003–According to the Lee County, Fla. sheriff’s office, at approximately 12:50 p.m. EST the sheriff’s office received a call informing them that a Cessna Chancellor (N749AA) had crashed in a residential area of North Fort Myers, Fla. The 35-year-old pilot, John Nowicki III, was killed and the other three occupants were taken to the hospital. Their condition was unknown. Witnesses told authorities they saw the aircraft approach a private airstrip when it lost power and crashed into the lanai of a residence. No one on the ground was injured. The NTSB is investigating.
