European Aerospace and Defense Systems (EADS) is the world’s second-largest aerospace and defense company (after Boeing). The European conglomerate’s new subsidiary, EADS North America (announced in April and completed in the second quarter), brought the huge Airbus A300-600ST Beluga to Oshkosh and under the Beluga’s massive wings displayed examples of EADS Socata’s piston and turboprop offerings, as well as a number of vintage French aircraft. EADS North America has 10 operating units that together generated $529 million in revenues last year. According to company officials, EADS North America contributes more than $6 billion a year to the U.S. economy and supports 120,000 American jobs in 33 cities.
