With Czech certification of the Ae270 turboprop single now expected in the fourth quarter of this year (earlier anticipated in September) and FAA approval in the first quarter of next year, Ibis Aerospace announced the selection of Southstar Aircraft Interiors of Texas to supply interior completions for production airplanes and DeCrane Aircraft Seating to supply executive-class seating. Southstar will be responsible for the manufacture and installation in ā€œgreenā€ executive Ae270s of headliners, window panels, sidewalls, bulkheads and storage compartments. Said Jeff Conrad, Ibis v-p of marketing, ā€œAfter considerable interaction with distributors and input from customers, Ibis has finalized the interior configuration of the Ae270 Spirit.ā€ Another spokesman for the joint-venture company of Aero Vodochody of the Czech Republic and AIDC of Taiwan, which has its marketing office in Kerrville, Texas, said 78 Ae270s are on order. The first production-conforming prototype of the Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6-66A-powered Ae270 (S/N 5) has been flying since February 28. It is the third flying prototype.
