Almost a year after first unveiling the deal, GE Aviation last month announced the completion of its acquisition of Prague, Czech Republic-based turboprop engine maker Walter Engines. The new GE division will operate as Walter Aircraft Engines. GE plans to increase production of the Czech-made engines to 500 per year by 2010 and said it would introduce an upgraded version of the Walter turboprop last month, most likely at EAA AirVenture (July 28 to August 3) in Oshkosh, Wis.
