The Friends of Meigs Field is seeking money for a legal defense fund to prevent further damage to Meigs Field, the Chicago airport whose runway was gouged just after midnight on Sunday, March 30 by order of Mayor Richard Daley. Because there is currently nothing legally standing in the way of further destruction of the airport, the Friends of Meigs Field is “collecting funds to be used for a legal challenge” before the Illinois Supreme Court and “other defense activities.” The full appeal will cost about $100,000, the organization said.
