Rolls-Royce, which has laid off nearly 4,000 aircraft engine workers in the UK over the last two years, revealed that another 540 positions are being cut through resignations and layoffs at the company’s Indianapolis facility. A company spokesman said commercial engine orders have dropped 40 percent in the past two years. The Indianapolis facility makes engines for helicopters, corporate aircraft and regional jets. According to the spokesman, the production rate for AE3007 engines (for the Citation X and Embraer ERJ-135/140/145) has been reduced to one engine every two days.
