At NBAA ’02, Kollsman Avionics is featuring its newest enhanced vision system (EVS) product, Night Window, targeted at operators seeking only improved situational awareness during clear night operations.

Able to fit on smaller aircraft, the $80,000 uncooled night VFR system can, like the All Weather Window, project a photographic negative-like image of airport structures and ground features, either as a real-time overlay onto a raster HUD or displayed on
an MFD.

The All Weather Window system is, Kollsman said, the only commercially certified EVS in the world and the only real-time, fully independent equipment of its kind. It uses a proprietary cooled infrared sensor with sufficient sensitivity and resolution to reveal terrain and airport environments in weather-reduced day or night visibility.

Kollsman Avionics expects its All Weather Window EVS, now in service on a Gulfstream V, to be certified on the GIV by year-end.

The Merrimack, N.H. business, a unit of Kollsman Inc., is demonstrating its EVS capabilities at Booth No. 2474 in the Orange County Convention Center.
