After buying Oxford Airport in the UK last year from BBA Aviation, new owners the Reuben Brothers and Dawnay Day have selected a name for the airport’s FBO: Oxfordjet. Construction on the FBO began in April and is due to be completed next month. The new Oxfordjet triples the space of the old general aviation terminal to handle a doubling in business aviation traffic during the past three years. The airport now averages about 10 business jet movements per day and claims it offers users lower costs than other London-area airports. Drive time to London’s West End is less than an hour, and slots are more easily obtained for flights into Oxford. The airport can now accommodate Boeing Business Jets and Airbus Corporate Jetliners, thanks to construction of a new high-bearing-strength ramp. Oxford Airport extended its opening hours in January, from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and two additional hours on weekends. In July, the extended hours will be standard seven days a week.
