The Scottsdale, Ariz. city council has approved construction of Scottsdale Air Center, a full-service FBO. Herb Marchman is president and managing partner of the company. Marchman currently operates FBOs in Santa Fe, N.M., and Colorado Springs, Colo. The Santa Fe Air Center is a five-time Gold Award winner from Exxon/Mobil’s Avitat chain of elite executive-level FBOs.
The Scottsdale facility is scheduled to open this fall and covers a 12-acre leasehold at Scottsdale Airport (SDL). Phase one of the project includes developing 50,000 sq ft of maintenance and hangar space, with an additional 25,000 sq ft for pilot and passenger amenities and office space. Features include a lounge, conference rooms and a separate pilots’ area with a business center, satellite weather and flight-planning area. Pilots will also have access to sleep rooms, showers, kitchen facilities and a dedicated pilot lounge.
Phase two of the Scottsdale Air Center will involve more hangar construction and related facilities on a seven-acre site directly across the runway from the phase-one location.
