Brazilian certification of the Embraer Legacy is expected this month, following the prototype’s return from its European tour. Only “minor final details regarding interior systems” remain, according to Sam Hill, vice chairman of Embraer Aircraft Corp. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., the Brazilian OEM’s U.S. marketing arm. First delivery to launch customer Swift Aviation is also expected this month. The Phoenix-based charter company, which has a firm order for 25 aircraft and holds options for another 25, plans to operate the airplane under Brazilian certification until FAA approval is obtained. Hill said Embraer holds firm orders for 44 aircraft, and options on 43 more. The $19.8 million Legacy is based on the Embraer ERJ-135 regional jet. Powered by two Rolls-Royce AE3007A turbofans, the 48,479-lb (mtow) business jet has an NBAA IFR range with 10 passengers of 3,200 nm.
