Pratt & Whitney Canada last month announced its plan to invest $90 million in the construction of a new flight-test operations center at Montreal Mirabel International Airport. The 164,000-sq-ft facility will feature two bays and will support a range of engines, from turboprops to turbofans producing up to 90,000 pounds of thrust. The company said it will transfer current flight-test operations, located in Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Saint-Hubert, Quebec, to an existing facility in Mirabel until construction of the new center is completed next spring. Construction of the new facility will create 100 local jobs, and the new facility will employ an additional 75 test engineers and technicians, the company said.
