In The Works: Dassault Falcon 7X

Dassault has selected a new, smaller version of the Rockwell Collins Flight Dynamics HGS 4000 head-up display as an option for the Falcon 7X. The 7X HGS will provide a wider field of view and larger glass for better viewing during crosswind landings and circling approaches, said Rockwell Collins. Operators of airplanes outfitted with the HUD could take advantage of lower-than-standard Cat I landings, as well as Cat II landings on Type I runways. The HUD will also offer takeoff guidance in visibilities down to 300-ft RVR and approach and landing guidance in visibilities as low as 600-ft RVR. In the future, new sensor and database technologies, such as enhanced vision and synthetic vision, will be accommodated through onboard software updates and a configurable imaging sensor interface. Rockwell Collins Flight Dynamics also supplies the HUD aboard Dassault’s Falcon 2000EX and 900EX. The 7X is scheduled to enter service in 2006.
