The display systems division of L-3 Communications has unveiled a new 6.5-inch color multifunction display that is designed to interface with TCAS, TAWS, weather radar, moving maps and video. Targeted at the air-transport and business-aircraft markets, the PVI 600 is scheduled for certification and first deliveries late this year. ACSS (Aviation Communication & Surveillance Systems), a Phoenix maker of TCAS, TAWS and mode-S transponders owned jointly by L-3 and Thales, formally introduced the display at the Aircraft Electronics Association trade show in Orlando, Fla., in late April. L-3 now also owns the assets of Goodrich Avionics, renamed L-3 Avionics Systems, which sells its own line of standby instruments and safety avionics.
