Eliminating the seam between the classroom and simulator has been the goal for both FlightSafety and SimuFlite lately, and both companies displayed “virtual simulators” that enhance the realism of classroom sessions by harnessing the power of a simulator’s computers to drive more comprehensive and more deeply layered visual classroom presentations. SimuFlite’s system, called Simfinity, has been operational at its BBJ training centers since late last year. FlightSafety’s system awaits a name and will shortly come on line at the company’s G550 training facility in Savannah.
