Hangar space in Silicon Valley increased by 47,000 sq ft this summer when San Jose Jet Center opened its new terminal/hangar complex known as Hangar E. The project broke ground at San Jose International Airport (SJC) in September last year and construction was completed in June. The new hangar has enough floor space to accommodate eight Gulfstream V- or Global Express-size aircraft, and has the necessary 28-foot doors as well.

The company, which also specializes in quick turnarounds for Hawaii-bound traffic, offers seven private workshop/offices within the new building complex as well as one 3,500- sq-ft passenger lobby and a second 3,500-sq-ft lobby for corporate shuttle passengers. For those who prefer to meet on the airport itself, there is a 500-sq-ft conference room on site, wireless Internet access and current-technology telecommunications equipment throughout the facility.

For pilots, there are the usual lounge amenities as well as a full kitchen with a commercial refrigerator for catering; flight planning and weather facilities; and 24-hour line service. Full-time concierge service is also available at the fully monitored, digitally secured facility. There is a total of 7.2 acres of ramp space adjacent to Hangar E, located on the south side of the airport alongside Runway 11/29.
