Signature Flight Support last month broke ground on a new facility at Toulon-Hyeres Airport in the south of France. The 2,410-sq-ft structure is expected to open in the fall. The company actually started providing handling for business aircraft at Toulon in January, operating out of the airport’s main terminal building while construction is under way. Signature first announced plans for the new facility in May 2002, but legal delays prevented it from opening as planned in the spring last year. The Toulon facility, managed by Bruno Hardy, is being marketed as an alternative to other business aviation gateway airports along France’s Mediterranean coast, such as Nice-Cote d’Azur, Cannes-Mandelieu and Marseilles. In addition to providing a full array of ground support for corporate operators, Signature can also arrange helicopter transits to Cote d’Azur resorts such as St. Tropez. Signature’s other European FBOs are located at Paris Le Bourget, London Luton and Southampton Airport on the south coast of England.
