FAA adds airport advisories
The FAA has published two revised Advisory Circulars for airports.

The FAA has published two revised Advisory Circulars for airports. AC 150/5200-30B is designed to help airports develop snow- and ice-control plans, conduct and report on runway-friction surveys and establish snow-removal and -control procedures. For airports with wildlife problems, AC 150/5200-33B can help identify areas of airport land that animals find hospitable and suggest ways of keeping wildlife away from the airport.

Wildlife strikes during the pastcentury, the AC noted, “have resulted in the loss of hundreds of lives worldwide, as well as billions of dollars in aircraft damage.” Large areas of land used by airports for noise mitigation and safety areas might encourage wildlife proliferation. “Even small facilities, such as fast-food restaurants, taxicab staging areas, rental car facilities, aircraft viewing areas and public parks can produce substantial attractions for hazardous wildlife.” The Advisory Circulars are available at http://rgl.faa.gov.
