Buchanan and Byron see growth

Two San Francisco-area airports are growing, with new FBOs and hangars under construction. At Buchanan Field in Concord, an FBO called Concord Jet Center is building a facility on 5.5 acres on the west side of the airport. Another company, Seecon, has begun construction of an office/hangar complex, also on the west side. Another 10 acres is undergoing an environmental review process for a hangar/office development with hangars ranging from 45 by 45 feet to 80 by 80 feet. The company planning this complex hopes to begin construction this year. At Byron Airport, which is 23 nm southeast of Buchanan Field, Byron Jet Center is finalizing environmental reviews and a lease for a hangar/office development on the south side of the airport. Byron’s longest runway is 4,500 feet. Contra Costa County, which owns and operates the two airports, has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for a new FBO at Byron Airport. The deadline for the RFP is November  1.
