Wichita, Kan.-based Cessna Aircraft (Booth No. 8550) broke ground last week for a third manufacturing building in Columbus, Ga. Located in at Muscogee Technology Park and planned for completion in August next year, the $11 million, 100,000-sq-ft building will join other Cessna buildings–built in 1996 and 2001–in the production of detail parts and assemblies for the OEM’s line of single-engine pistons, Caravan turboprop singles and business jets. The two other buildings are located in the Columbus East Industrial Park, about three miles from the new building. Cessna plans to invest an additional $13 million over the next few years to add machinery for increased capacity and to introduce new technology to the three buildings.
