The Middle East Business Aviation conference and exhibition (MEBA) has established itself firmly on the industry calendar after a successful inaugural event held in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates on January 31 and February 1. The show is organized by Fairs & Exhibitions (the UK company that organizes the biennial Dubai Air Show) and has the backing of the new Middle East Business Aviation Association (MEBAA).
The 2008 MEBA show has been expanded to a three-day event. This will again be held at the Airport Expo center in Dubai, from November 23 to 25. Beyond this, MEBA will be held every other year, alternating with the Dubai Air Show.
Future MEBA events may be staged at other locations in the Arabian Gulf region. In addition to extensive indoor exhibits, the show also features an adjoining static display of aircraft.
Strong Growth
MEBA 2007 drew 90 exhibitors and 31 aircraft from 20 countries, as well as 2,401 visitors. Around $907 million worth of new business was announced during the show, which also featured a full conference program backed by senior local aviation officials, including Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation.
“There have been heavy commitments for sponsorship opportunities,” said Alison Weller, aerospace director for Fairs & Exhibitions. “We are working on new initiatives for the conference program, including the addition of technical industry workshops following this year’s delegate feedback.”
According to MEBAA chairman Ali Al Naqbi, the Middle East business aviation market is growing by as much as 11 percent each year. Here at NBAA’07, MEBAA is jointly exhibiting with Fairs & Exhibitions at Booth No. 4257.
Meanwhile, Fairs & Exhibitions is launching another new show to tap the growing demand for private and business aviation in the Middle East. Aircraft Interiors Middle East will be staged in Dubai next year (June 16 and 17) and will focus on cabin completion and refurbishment, as well as in-flight entertainment and communications systems.
