Cessna yesterday delivered the first Citation Mustang to a European customer when British entrepreneur Jane Howell received her aircraft at the London-area Farnborough Airport. Howell has been a private pilot for 20 years and will fly the Mustang herself for both business and personal trips around Europe. She completed her type rating for the entry-level jet during two weeks of training at FlightSafety’s Wichita facility and has also been participating in the company’s pilot mentoring program. According to Trevor Esling, Cessna’s v-p for international sales, more than 140 of the manufacturer’s orders for 350 Mustangs are from European customers, with deliveries now scheduled in the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Portugal and Scandinavia over the next couple of years. The first example of the Mustang built to European Aviation Safety Agency certification standards will go to a German customer next month. By next July, FlightSafety intends to have a Mustang simulator available at its Farnborough Learning Center.
