Townsend Leather of Johnstown, N.Y., and Scotchgard Protector from 3M have reached an exclusive agreement that will add “high-performance protective treatments” to Townsend leathers. The Scotchgard Protector treatment is being incorporated into the manufacturing process for much of Townsend’s aniline leather product line and is available for other leathers on request. According to Townsend, the result is leather that has a longer life and is more stain resistant. The treatment products contain no silicone and have been tested and reviewed by the Environmental Protection Agency. Townsend describes the treatment products as having “a favorable environmental, health and safety impact.”
