Embraer rolled out the first Phenom 100 very light jet at its headquarters in São Jose dos Campos, Brazil, on Saturday, marking the completion of the airplane’s assembly and systems integration phases.

“We are thrilled to see the Phenom 100 become a reality,” said Luis Carlos Affonso, executive vice president of executive jets for Embraer. Next stop for the diminutive business jet is the paint shop, after which it will begin prepping for first flight, anticipated in the next few weeks.

Embraer launched the $3 million Phenom in May 2005 along with the airplane’s larger, light-jet sibling, the Phenom 300. The company cut the first metal for the Phenom 100 a year later using a digital mockup of the airplane using Catia computer-aided design software.
