The budding Encore FBO chain added two FBOs, with the May acquisition of Sun Western Flyers at Laughlin/Bullhead International Airport in Bullhead City, Nev., and this month’s opening of a new FBO at Cote d’Azur in Nice, France. This brings Encore’s total to six FBOs–three in the U.S. and three in Europe. At the Nice FBO, Encore is using the Encore Euralair brand name, as it does for its FBO at Le Bourget Airport in Paris. Encore purchased the Paris FBO from Euralair Airport Services in November. Unlike most European FBOs, Encore pumps its own fuel using Encore employees and fuel trucks at its Dublin, Paris and Nice facilities. This helps the FBO turn airplanes more quickly as customers don’t have to wait for fuel companies that are busy servicing airline traffic.
The Bullhead City acquisition makes sense, according to executive vice president Don Prescott, “because we think the area’s going to grow. There’s development along the Colorado River. Casinos are putting money into resorts there.” At Nice, Encore is building a new customer lobby inside the airport’s old domestic terminal. Next year Encore and the airport’s other FBOs will move into a separate dedicated general aviation facility.
