Eclipse Aviation (Booth No.

Eclipse Aviation (Booth No. 202) has finalized details of the training program for its new very light jet (VLJ), revealing partnerships with two pilot training companies. Flight Simulation Co. (FSC) of The Netherlands and Higher Power Aviation, Inc. (HPA) of Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, will work with Florida-based simulator manufacturer Opinicus Corp., in providing an FAA-approved training curriculum for the Eclipse 500.

According to Eclipse, FSC will provide course content and simulator center management, as well as oversee the overall program, while HPA will conduct flight training and administer the Eclipse 500 type-rating curriculum in the U.S. HPA has extensive experience training under FAR Part 125, 91, 121 and 135.

The program consists of a multi-phase curriculum beginning with an initial flight skills assessment and supplemental training if necessary. It employs self-paced computer-based study, emergency situation training, a type-rating transition course, post-certification mentoring and recurrent training.

In 2005, Eclipse Aviation selected Opinicus as its exclusive simulator manufacturer and is on track to receive its first Eclipse 500 full-motion simulator next month. This unit and another eventual three will be housed in a new training facility near the company’s Albuquerque, New Mexico headquarters.
