Tampa International Airport (TPA) will have a new FBO by midsummer. Air BP announced last month it would provide fuel and related services to the new business, owned by Mike Azzarelli. AIN has learned that FBO industry veteran Phil Botana will manage the operation. Most recently president of Flightcraft of Portland, Ore., Botana has made the move to Florida and will start work with the new operation this month.

With a construction budget of some $15 million, the new FBO will have a total of 160,000 sq ft under roof, including its terminal area. Following the lead of many new-build FBOs, it will have a 12,500-sq-ft canopy to protect deplaning passengers from sun and rain. All customer-service representatives will be trained by Ritz Carlton, and the FBO’s amenities will include snooze rooms for pilots, high-speed Internet access and a commercial kitchen on site with a staff chef to provide gourmet catering.
