Bigger is better at Jet Aviation West Palm Beach

Bigger is the latest goal for the interior refurbishment department at Jet Aviation’s West Palm Beach, Fla. facility. The company has announced it received FAA approval for repair-station requirements that will allow for interior refurbishment work on BBJ-size aircraft and larger.

According to Ben Games, manager of quality assurance, the approval opens the door to interior completion of large-category green aircraft. “We’ve had owners of larger new business jets call in the past, asking if we could do their interior, but the way the repair station requirements were written, we were restricted in the size of aircraft we could handle.”

In the past, refurbishment of executive/VIP aircraft the size of the BBJ or larger was done at Jet Aviation’s facilities in Basel, Switzerland. “Now we have both the authority and capability to do these jobs here at West Palm,” said Games.

The West Palm Beach facility is also negotiating with Sikorsky to do green aircraft interior installation on the manufacturer’s new S-92. “If we get the contracts with Sikorsky, this will help us get a foot in the door to do green helicopter interiors for other OEMs,” Games told AIN. Jet Aviation West Palm Beach has already installed executive interiors in three S-70s for the Egyptian government.
