The turn of the new year has seen several new facilities opening in time for the winter season.

• In Oakland, Calif., the Business Jet Center had its grand opening on December 1. The FBO terminal is the old airline passenger terminal on the historic airport, and the art deco motif used in the renovation reflects its history.

• On the other side of the country, two FBOs recently opened the doors on new facilities in Jacksonville, Fla. Signature Flight Support celebrated the renovation of its new executive terminal on December 10. The following week, on December 15, SheltAir opened its temporary terminal facility on the field and cut the ribbons on a pair of 20,000-sq-ft storage hangars. The permanent terminal building is slated for completion in March. SheltAir has faced an uphill battle with the weather to complete construction of the hangars, having experienced major wind and flooding during the recent spate of hurricanes to hit the Sunshine State.
