First Gulfstream and now Embraer has selected the PilotView electronic flight bag (EFB) from CMC Electronics for its line of large business jets. The class-2 units are the standard options on the Legacy 600 and Lineage 1000 and will also be available to all of Embraer’s airline customers, the Brazilian manufacturer announced. Featuring a full slide-down keyboard and color touch-screen display, the PilotView EFB is more durable than some competing commercial-off-the-shelf products, its manufacturer claims. At around $15,000, it generally costs more, too. The unit can be used for accessing aircraft documentation, checklists and flight-planning information, in addition to displaying electronic charts, moving maps, enhanced-vision camera views and graphical real-time weather information. PilotView has been flying aboard a number of business jets for the last couple of years and is approved for installation in Gulfstreams, Falcons and Global Expresses.
