Arinc Direct last month launched World Calling, a flat-rate billing plan for customers of its SkyLink VoIP (voice over Internet protocol) telephone service for business jets. Users, said the company, are billed at a flat rate of 10 cents per minute for all calls between the aircraft and ground, no matter where in the world the calls originate or terminate. And unlike most VoIP calling options, SkyLink’s service is carried over a secure private IP network rather than the Internet. Users of the service can surf the Internet and make multiple phone calls simultaneously over a single SkyLink connection, Arinc noted. Callers trying to reach the aircraft dial a special 1-800 number.
