Atlantic Aviation is opening a new temporary FBO terminal at Lackland AFB’s Kelly Field Annex, a huge airport with an 11,550-foot runway five miles from downtown San Antonio. Atlantic expects to be ready for general aviation traffic by December 1, according to general manager Dwight Randolph, and plans to open a new 10,000-sq-ft FBO terminal and 30,000-sq-ft hangar in January 2008. There are some restrictions for GA traffic; aircraft are limited to those weighing more than 12,500 pounds, Randolph said, and inbound aircraft must file a flight plan to land. U.S. customs, rental cars, crew cars, jet-A (no avgas) and catering will also be available.
