Jet Aviation has begun a $27 million expansion at its current complex in Basel, Switzerland. The project will add almost 334,000 sq ft of hangar, shop and ramp space, and is expected to take about 18 months.

Also, the Euro Airport board of directors has approved the development of the south zone of the airport, allowing Jet Aviation Basel to build another widebody hangar to be completed in the first half of 2008. It will be large enough to accommodate aircraft up to the size of the Airbus A380 and Boeing 747-8.

Jet Aviation’s overall Basel expansion plan, the largest in the company’s 39-year history, began last year when the company leased the former Crossair hangar, increasing its hangar space by 30 percent.
