Honeywell (Booth No. 1994) is celebrating certified installations of its Primus Epic control display system/retrofit (CDS/R) aboard a Dassault Falcon 50, Falcon 900B and Raytheon Hawker 800A.

Chippewa Aerospace, a Honeywell dealer and aviation services company in Myrtle Beach, S.C., performed the three-display installation and STC flight testing for the Falcon 50. It was Chippewa’s first CDS/R installation and certification and the first on a Falcon 50.

Duncan Aviation accomplished the four-display Falcon 900B CDS/R retrofit and STC process. This is Duncan Aviation’s second CDS/R Phase III installation and certification this year. Earlier in the year, Duncan carried out the Raytheon Hawker 800A STC program, a three-display installation. The Lincoln, Neb. avionics specialist is spotlighting the retrofitted Falcon 900B at the NBAA 2006 static display (No. 36) on the Showalter Flying Service Orlando Executive Airport ramp.

Said Scott Taylor, Honeywell business and general aviation v-p for sales and customer marketing, “These upgrades remove smaller and significantly less capable indicators and replace them with the new flat-panel LCD technology–large-screen DU-1080 Epic-type displays which enhance safety through increased situational awareness.” Added Chippewa Aerospace technical services v-p Charles Myers, “The installation substantially reduced weight, power consumption and parts count.”

“The interface of the digital data of Epic with the existing digital architecture of the Honeywell SPZ-8000/ASCB data bus in the Hawker 800A/XP allows existing avionics in the Hawker to remain,” Taylor noted. “This helps keep the cost down and provides the platform for technology upgrades that will pave the way to meeting future requirements such as charts and maps, uplinked weather and automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast [ADS-B].”
