Women in Corporate Aviation is presenting three scholarships this week. All of them were open to candidates pursuing or interested in careers in corporate/ business aviation.
Lauren Smalkoski, winner of the Cessna Aircraft Co. Commercial Pilot Scholarship, received her award yesterday. Smalkoski is from Racine, Wis., and is currently a junior at the University of Dubuque. “The scholarship will help her finish her
commercial license,” said scholarship coordinator Marianne Ross.
Kimberly Brown, will receive the Women in Corporate Aviation Career Scholarship, at the WCA Networking Gathering in room N310E at 3:15 p.m. tomorrow. Kimberly is from Washougal, Wash., and is a contract pilot for Aircraft Management Solutions of Portland, Ore. She has a degree in Flight Technology from Central Washington University. Her goal is “to obtain a CFI in the hopes that teaching others to fly will improve her own flying skills,” said Ross.
Holly O’Neal, winner of the Inspection Authorization Scholarship sponsored by Aircraft Technical Publishers and King’s School of Aeronautics, will receive her award at Technical Publisher’s booth on the convention floor tomorrow at 4 p.m. She works in Petaluma, Calif., as an A&P for a charter company. Her goal is to be the director of maintenance for Sunset Aviation, and “she sees the inspection authorization as the first step on the road to that goal,” Ross said.
