Wilson Air Center has quietly acquired Fletcher Aviation at Houston Hobby Airport (HOU). Wilson’s Memphis facility has rated at the top of AIN’s FBO Survey for the past six years, and owner Bob Wilson recently signed on as the contract FBO for the airport authority at Charlotte-Douglas (N.C.) International Airport, where a new facility is under construction. At HOU, Wilson intends to operate under the joint Fletcher/Wilson brand until, as Wilson said, “we can bring the operation up to our standards.”

Wilson shares Memphis International Airport with a Signature facility, and it is the sole FBO at Charlotte. But at HOU it faces stiff competition from four top-flight business aviation FBOs–Atlantic Aviation, Enterprise Jet Center, Million Air HOU and Raytheon Aircraft Services. Million Air HOU is owned by Roger Woolsey, who also owns Million Air Interlink, the franchise company that networks all Million Air FBOs.

Wilson understands that he faces a formidable challenge at HOU, and he admits that the Fletcher Aviation facility is a diamond in the rough that requires substantial work to bring it up to where he wants it to be. But he told AIN, “We’re going to give them a run for their money in Houston.”
