Premier/West Star expects to complete an extensive interior and exterior renovation of its FBO lobby this month, and is set to break ground on a new 40,000-sq-ft hangar at its Walker Field location in Grand Junction, Colo.

The lobby project began in July and will update not only the exterior of the main FBO terminal building, but also include major interior renovations modeled after an Aspen ski lodge. Along with the updated look, new amenities for crews and passengers are planned for the facility, including private Internet-access areas, multiple conference rooms, exercise facilities, a crew rest area and an all-new pilot’s lounge. Passengers will enjoy the new gourmet coffee/espresso bar, children’s play area and newly remodeled lobby. The entire project is expected to be complete this month, with a grand opening planned before year-end.

Rick Brainard, general manager of Premier/West Star, said, “[The FBO] has always been a popular destination during the ski season due to its proximity to Aspen, Telluride and Vail ski areas.” The new hangar will add 40,000 sq ft of aircraft storage, office and shop space, along with 30,000 sq ft more ramp space. This newest hangar will be used specifically for Challenger and Hawker maintenance, as well as the company’s interior completions and avionics departments. There will be additional space for administration and flight department offices. The hangar project is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter next year.
