Enstrom has sold two helicopters, a turbine 480B and a piston 280FX, to Hanseo University in South Korea. The university made the announcement at the opening ceremony for a new airfield it built to train fixed- and rotary-wing pilots, mechanics and air traffic controllers.

Enstrom sales director Tracy Biegler told AIN that the company expects to sell more helicopters in South Korea, using Hanseo as a distributor. “They have good government contacts and we hope to get the chance to bid for the forthcoming (military) Korean Helicopter Program, which would be huge for us.

“In the meantime, we are working toward Korean certification and marketing our products as both the safer training option and one that offers a smoother transition onto larger types.”

“This is an important milestone for Enstrom,” confirmed company president Jerry Mullins. “Student pilots who learn to fly in a particular aircraft have a preference for it once they qualify.”
