San Diego County, which has jurisdiction over the McClellan-Palomar Airport (CRQ), is currently updating its FAR Part 150 noise compatibility plan for the airport. Part of the process involves evaluating existing operating procedures, with an eye toward reducing noise in the surrounding area. Consultants are evaluating six possible measures, including developing a new instrument departure procedure and amending the “quiet hours.” The county is requesting input from business aviation, and NBAA advises aircraft operators that the FAA notes whether or not an operator participated in the study and which operators expressed a willingness to comply with the recommended changes.
